ASIA’S LARGEST OSV CONFERENCE GOES TO CHINA THIS NOVEMBER

Asia’s Largest OSV Conference Goes To China This November

IBC Asia’s Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) annual conferences in Singapore have been hugely successful in showcasing the oil and gas industry expectations, commercial trends and new contracting opportunities for OSVs. This year, the producers of this premier series will also host the inaugural Offshore Support Vessels China conference in Shanghai.

About 1 trillion yuan is expected to be invested during the implementation of China’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), with the majority going to offshore oil exploration. In addition, with Chinese shipyards accounting for over 40% of global AHTS, and 20% of PSV orders, it is evident that the country is seeking more dependence on marine industries as a strategic development move.

With CNOOC alone showing a 30% increase in CAPEX spend during 2010, the Offshore Support Vessels China conference, taking place in Shanghai from 28 – 30 November 2011, will put the focus on contracting opportunities in China’s domestic offshore logistics sector, and will also review the critical role of China’s shipbuilding industry on the markets.

When the global ship market declined due to the financial crisis, many shipyards lost orders or even went out of business, but Sinopacific relied on its forward-looking strategy to calmly pass through the crisis and even received its largest OSV order of 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010.

A few years ago, when they saw that the bulk cargo ship market was full of competition but the offshore vessel market was relatively open, the group set the product development strategy of “Leadership in Niche Markets”.

With this strategy, from 2003 till the end of September 2010, they have delivered 202 ships and significant increases of new orders. They have kept the amount of order book stable, even increasing to more than 4 billion US dollars.

“As the world’s largest offshore vessel builder, Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group will further increase our investment and innovation in offshore vessel building, strengthen our cooperation with international partners and adopt the most advanced technologies and talents while fulfilling our responsibility to boost the transition and upgrade of China’s shipbuilding sector.” Simon Liang, Group Chairman and CEO, Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group

Learn the secrets of the world’s largest offshore vessel builder at this year’s Offshore Support Vessels China conference, where you will get a chance to hear directly from Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group. Chairman and CEO, Simon Liang, will explain the group’s secret of success on a more strategic level while Chief Technical Officer, Ye Zhao, will discuss their progress and efforts on technology and design of OSVs.

Co-located with the 5th Annual Bunkering in Asia and the 11th International Dry Bulk Review conference, the Offshore Support Vessels Chinaconference will provide a prime platform to network with top global and industry executives from across the offshore marine and oil & gas value chain.

An unparalleled line-up of speakers comprising shipowners, shipbuilders, oil & gas players, and industry experts will be on hand, including leading regional players like Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering, Drydocks World, Hallin Marine, Mermaid Maritime, Wintermar Offshore Marine Group, Reliance Industries and Nam Cheong.

Apart from the Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, other key players in China that will provide market updates and shed light on opportunities for local and international companies include SINOPEC, China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen), the China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, International Far Eastern Leasing, Germanischer Lloyd, and Bureau Veritas.

In addition, attendees will also get to hear from international experts such as Wartsila Ship Design, DNV, Cargotec Marine, ABB Marine and Ulstein, on new technology and design.

Highlights of the event include a Ship Owner Panel forecasting new build requirements and expectations from shipyards, a Shipyard Panel on leveraging new technologies in building highly sophisticated OSVs, new developments in AHTS and PSVs, as well as identifying and overcoming the challenges for international shipowners placing orders in China.

Key topics such as China’s shipbuilding role in the global OSV market, OSV shipbuilding developments and trends in China, strategies to improve shipyard competitiveness in the offshore marine sector, and how PRC shipbuilders are positioned on the technological ladder, will also be discussed at this inaugural event.
